BEST STORY EVER!!
That is just how I have to start this. “Where the Crawdads Sing,” by Delia Owens is fantastic! This book has it all; mystery, crime, and of course, love. Yet, this isn’t a typical love story. It’s is a coming-of-age story, a story of loneliness, a story of betrayal, a story like you’ve never read before. At the time of this writing, it has been a New York Times Bestseller for 97 weeks! Not because some famous celebrity wrote the book but yet because it’s well written. It’s the type of story that reminds us why we read in the first place.
It’s a story of a young girl name Kya whom the locals refer to as the “Marsh Girl.” Abandoned by her family, she struggled to take care of herself at the age of only six years old. Yet, despite the struggles, she survived alone in the marsh near a quiet town in North Carolina. Kya had to learn all the life lessons of growth on her own. Eventually, she opens herself up to a possible new life when she’s old enough to experience love. It’s a coming-of-age story followed by crime and mystery. It will leave you biting your nails, heart-pounding, and in tears.
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. 11 OUT OF 10 STARS!
I read it in only two sittings as I couldn’t endure putting it down, rereading the last few chapters several times, to only get better each time. I can’t even express what this story means to me; personally, it’s the best book I’ve ever read. If you’re a reader, this is one you must pick up today.
